Local Fall Activities: Farm Edition
Well everyone, it is officially that time! The temperature has dropped and while we love to talk fall fashion, there happens to be one more thing we love to tall about. Fall activities in the surrounding areas! What fun would fall be if we didn’t take advantage of the crisp air, sweet cider, and watching leaves fall from the trees and twirl in the wind before hitting the ground.
Not only is it a normal family tradition to go to the pumpkin patch and enjoy the views, picking out the pumpkins, and probably a hot cocoa or two. But we also can’t forget to set aside time for apples, walking the mazes, and enjoy the petting zoo!
Pumpkin Patches:
Schramm Farms & Orchards – Schramm’s is extremely kid friendly and one of the top rated pumpkin patches in the area! With a corn maze, place to enjoy some snacks/cider, and even some animals to pet... I would say they have it all!
Triple B Farms – I have never been to this farm, however after scrolling through their site and looking at pictures, it is on my list! Located in Pittsburgh Triple B Farms is a 400 acre farm that has everything from build your own scarecrows, apple and pumpkin festivals, to playing in Pop’s farmyard! Conveniently enough they have a full calendar of events on their website!
Corn Mazes:
Gearhard Farms – Located in Murrysville, this year is Gearhard Farms 19th annual corn maze and if you go to their website you can see they have had some VERY INTERESTING mazes in years past haha! Last years corn maze design happen to be the Pennsylvania state flag!
Chad’s Corn Maze – Located in Ligonier, this corn maze seems to embrace the creative spirit as well! Listed on their website in big letters their 2018 maze theme is Up Down by Morgan Wallen ft. Florida Georgia Line. You will want to head to their website to see the photo!
Orchards:
Soergel Orchards – Located in Wexford, Soergel’s has an Arsenal Cider House, a garden center, wine shop, and natural baked goods along with lots of other goodies! Sounds like it checks off ALL the fall necessities if you ask me!
Half Crown Hill Orchard – If you are looking to take in breathtaking views for the day, from the pictures this looks like the perfect place! Located in McDonald, Half Crown Hill Orchard has the perfect sized trees for you or your little ones to be able to pick apples!
